NINGBO INNO PHARMCHEM CO.,LTD. employs a comprehensive suite of analytical techniques to ensure the efficacy and understand the mechanisms of our chemical products. In our work with organophosphorus derivatives as copper corrosion inhibitor in acid solutions, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is an indispensable tool for FTIR analysis of organophosphorus inhibitor interactions.
FTIR spectroscopy works by measuring the absorption of infrared light by a sample, which causes molecular vibrations. Different chemical bonds and functional groups absorb infrared radiation at specific wavelengths, producing a unique spectral fingerprint for each compound. By comparing the FTIR spectrum of DAMP before and after exposure to a copper surface in an acidic environment, we can identify shifts in characteristic absorption bands or the appearance of new ones, indicating interaction and adsorption.
Our FTIR analysis of DAMP showed distinct peaks corresponding to its key functional groups, including those related to phosphorus (P=O, P-O-C), nitrogen (N-H), and aromatic rings (C=C-Ar). When examining copper surfaces treated with DAMP in acidic media, these characteristic peaks were observed, albeit with modified intensities and positions. This modification suggests that the DAMP molecules have chemically bonded or adsorbed onto the copper surface, altering their vibrational modes.
This spectroscopic evidence provides critical confirmation of DAMP's adsorption mechanism and its interaction with the copper substrate. It supports the findings from other analytical methods, such as SEM EDX analysis of corrosion inhibitor, and reinforces our understanding of how organophosphorus compounds function to protect metals. At NINGBO INNO PHARMCHEM CO.,LTD., we leverage these advanced analytical capabilities to develop high-performance, reliable corrosion prevention solutions.
