These thermosetting polymers are known for their excellent stability and chemical resistance due to their robust cross-linked structure. In drilling applications, SMP leverages these inherent properties to deliver superior fluid loss control.


Our Sulfonated Phenolic Resin is available in two distinct grades: SMP-I and SMP-II, each formulated to meet specific operational demands. Both grades are designed to perform exceptionally well in various water-based drilling fluid systems, offering reliable performance even in saturated salt water environments and at remarkably high temperatures, up to 200ºC. This resilience makes them indispensable for deep well drilling and complex geological formations where conventional additives might fail. Furthermore, SMP exhibits high compatibility with other common drilling fluid treatment agents, such as SMC, SMK, and SPNH, allowing for seamless integration into existing fluid formulations.


Key technical specifications highlight the efficacy and quality of our SMP products. Both SMP-I and SMP-II boast a dry material content of greater than or equal to 90%, ensuring high purity and concentration. While SMP-I has a water insoluble substance content of less than or equal to 10%, SMP-II is even purer with less than or equal to 8% insolubles. Their ability to manage salinity at cloud point is impressive: SMP-I maintains stability at concentrations of 100 g/L or more, while SMP-II excels further, holding strong at 160 g/L or more. Apparent viscosity for SMP-I is kept below 38 mPa.s and for SMP-II below 50 mPa.s, crucial for fluid rheology control. Moreover, High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) Fluid Loss values are stringently controlled, with SMP-I at less than or equal to 25 mL and SMP-II at less than or equal to 35 mL, demonstrating their effectiveness in minimizing fluid seepage under extreme conditions.


For optimal results, a recommended dosage of 3.0% to 5.0% by weight is typically suggested, though customers are advised to adjust the exact amount based on their specific drilling fluid system and downhole conditions. This flexibility ensures tailored performance and cost-efficiency.


Regarding logistics and storage, Sulfonated Phenolic Resin is usually supplied in 25 kg multi-wall bags, featuring an inner polythene layer to protect the product's integrity. Custom packaging solutions are also available to accommodate diverse customer requirements. For proper storage, the product should be kept in a shady, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. The ambient temperature should ideally be controlled below 122ºF (50ºC), with relative humidity maintained under 50%. It is crucial to prevent exposure to direct sunlight and rain, and to store the product away from sources of heat and fire. For safe stacking, bag piles should not exceed 8 layers. Under these recommended conditions, the product maintains a stable shelf life of 2 years, ensuring long-term usability and reliability.
