The recommended concentration for dispersion is usually between 5-10% of the flakes by weight. This prepared solution is then applied to the fabric using standard textile finishing methods, such as padding or dipping.
In the padding process, a typical dosage of the 10% working solution ranges from 20-30g/L. After application, fabrics are usually dried and then set at appropriate temperatures. For the dipping process, the dosage is generally 3-8% (o.w.f., on weight of fabric) with a liquor ratio of 1:10 to 1:15, at temperatures between 40-50°C for approximately 30 minutes. Understanding these parameters is key to achieving the desired softness without over-application or processing issues.
The nonionic nature of these softener flakes ensures they are compatible with most textile fibers and other finishing agents, including certain cationic and anionic softeners, though compatibility tests are always recommended. Their inherent non-yellowing properties are a significant advantage, especially for white or pastel shades, preserving color vibrancy.
