Product Technical Details

Product Overview

UV Absorber UV-P represents a premium class of benzotriazole-based ultraviolet stabilizers designed to protect polymeric materials from photodegradation. Chemically known as 2-(2H-Benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-2-yl)-4-methylphenol, this compound functions by absorbing harmful UV radiation in the 290 to 400 nanometer range and dissipating the energy as harmless heat. This mechanism significantly extends the service life of plastics exposed to sunlight and artificial lighting conditions.

Our manufacturing process ensures exceptional purity levels, typically exceeding 99 percent assay. The product exhibits minimal absorption in the visible light spectrum, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring high optical clarity. Unlike lower-grade stabilizers, UV-P maintains the original color and transparency of the host material, preventing yellowing or haze formation over time.

Industrial Applications

This versatile UV absorber is extensively utilized across the plastics and resin industries. Its compatibility with a wide range of polymers allows formulators to enhance durability without compromising mechanical properties. Key application areas include:

  • Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) profiles and films
  • Polypropylene (PP) automotive components
  • Polycarbonate (PC) glazing and sheets
  • Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) acrylics
  • Unsaturated polyester resins and epoxy systems
  • ABS resin and polyethylene packaging

For thin products such as films, a dosage of 0.1 to 0.5 percent is generally recommended. In thicker sections, the concentration can be reduced to 0.05 to 0.2 percent while maintaining effective protection. Notably, UV Absorber UV-P is compliant for use in materials intended for food contact, adhering to relevant safety regulations.

Storage and Handling

UV Absorber UV-P is characterized by excellent storage stability. It is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-corrosive under normal conditions. The product should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Standard packaging consists of 25kg cardboard drums lined with plastic bags, though custom packaging solutions are available to meet specific logistical requirements. Proper handling procedures ensure consistent quality from production to end-use.
